The Santa Ana Watershed Association (SAWA), in partnership with the Orange County Conservation Corps, Riparian Repairs, and Featherly Regional Park plan to complete the removal of Arundo donax from the park. Arundo will be removed by a combination of chainsaw crews and a trackloader with attached cutting blade. Arundo that can’t be cut with the trackloader (due to terrain or inclusion of native plants) will be cut with chainsaws. The area is expected to restore naturally from the existing seed bank. Native cuttings will be used to revegetate as necessary.
