The Cottonwood Creek Park Restoration Project recreated approximately 2.4 acres of riparian habitat along one-quarter mile of stream corridor on Cottonwood and Moonlight Creeks, in northern San Diego County. The City of Encinitas took on the creek restoration as part of a larger effort to develop the eight acre Cottonwood Creek Park. The project achieved three main goals:
1) restore and enhance riparian habitat along the two creeks;
2) improve water quality; and
3) provide educational opportunities for park visitors.
