The purpose of the Ventura River Parkway project is to acquire and restore lands along the Ventura River and its primary tributaries for habitat restoration, flood management, anadromous fishery restoration, and recreational trails. Farmont Ranch, acquired in 2003 preserved 1,406 acres were in fee and 150 acres under conservation easement. Acquisition of the Confluence property at the mouth of San Antonio Creek preserved 14 acres in fee and 16 acres under easement. The Confluence property adjoins 310 acres of riparian habitat owned by the County of Ventura and the City of Ventura thus consolidating three miles of the middle reaches of the river in public ownership. Both projects together protect a total of five miles of the 15-mile main stem of the Ventura River.
