Shepherd Canyon Wetlands Restoration Project

Location: San Diego County

Status: Completed

Cost: $21,500

This project restored approximately 1.3 acres of a three acre wetland and transitional upland site in a City of San Diego owned open space in the Tierrasanta Open Space Maintenance District, by removing invasive trees and plants that threaten habitat value and planting native trees, shrubs, and grasses. The project aimed to activate the Tierrasanta community and youth groups by conducting interpretive activities and educational events and enrolling local residents and residents from the broader community and students in the wetlands restoration project.
