This project will provide restoration, hands-on watershed education, and stewardship experiences along the Ventura River Watershed to over six hundred 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students for one year. The project is correlated with the California Science Content Standards and will facilitate comprehensive, tangible and meaningful experiences planting acorns, restoring native plants, and removing trash. The project is specifically designed to create greater stewardship and understanding in the local communities by bringing students into their own watershed for restoration and education. The students participating attend 10 schools along the Ventura River. The project will strengthen relationships with other conservation and educational organizations in the local area, including Oak Grove School, the Ventura and Ojai Unified School Districts, Ventura Hillsides Conservancy, the California Conservation Corps, the Surfrider Foundation, and the Ojai Land Conservancy.
