This project developed a plan to enhance approximately 2 acres of salt marsh and sand dune habitat adjacent to the UCSB Campus Lagoon and prepared restoration plans for three additional areas around the lagoon.

The UCSB Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration (CCBER) manages the Campus Lagoon and this planning grant led to the following project plan: to create two large vernal pools on Campus Point, a vernal marsh in a seep area on the north shore of the Lagoon (San Nicolas Wetland), enhance the shoreline of the Lagoon to create shorebird habitat and restore currently un-restored upland areas (30.5 acres) to coastal sage scrub, oak woodland and dune vegetation. All documentation completed for CEQA and Coastal Commission submission. This project was supported by UCSB Planning and Design department who facilitated the submittal for appropriate permits and approvals.
