Project Overview:

This project implemented Arundo donax eradication and riparian restoration efforts along the Santa Clara River which established self-sustaining native habitat while creating a hands-on learning opportunity for CSU Channel Islands students, UCSB students, Oxnard college students, Green Generations Club members, and the general public. Practitioners worked in small groups and attended lectures and discussions led by CSU and UCSB facult on key componens of creating and implementing successful ecosystem restoration projects. Specialists then served as mentors while the students and volunteers used what they learned to restore native vegetation and proper ecosystem function.
