This project involved Fillmore Unified School District students in grades K-12 working with UCSB undergraduate students to participate in watershed education and a long-term riparian restoration project at the Santa Clara River. This program was a collaboration between the School District, UCSB, US Fish and Wildlife, the Santa Clara River Trustee Council, and community volunteers. The program enhanced an already existing education program in the Santa Clara River by providing opportunities for approximately 300 students to engage in restoration work at the river.

Restoration consisted of eradicating invasive plant species along approximately 10.8 acres of riparian habitat as well as planting 2,000 native plants including willows, cottonwoods, mule fat, elderberry, and other ecologically appropriate species.
